A spring clean could mean spring cash

Due to a lack of free time, we rarely have a good clear out anymore. Unwanted items take up valuable space, and getting rid of them could free up space and raise cash for energy saving home improvements.
At the time of writing, our spring scrappage scheme offered £200 off the cost of a new energy efficient boiler, which could save over £300 a year on energy bills.
Easy energy saving quick fixes
- Dry clothes on a washing line instead of an energy-sapping tumble dryer
- Replace bulbs with energy efficient ones, which more than make up for the cost in savings
- Switch the TV off at the wall and read a book outside
- Get your boiler serviced, as an inefficient boiler can waste up to £300 a year, and bleed the radiators while you are at it
- Use artificial lighting as little as possible in the lighter evenings
- Try a refreshing cold shower if you are brave
- Turn down the temperature of your water heater to save energy and avoid scalding
