BASI install biomass boiler

At BASI we are committed to helping the UK improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Over 18 months we practised what we preach, installing solar PV to reduce our electricity use and solar thermal to reduce the energy we use for hot water. Our most recent project replaced our traditional gas boiler with a state of the art wood pellet boiler to heat our radiators.
After the installation was designed and proposed, we assessed the benefits. Our existing fuel was natural gas, which is fairly cheap compared with oil or bulk LPG, yet we would still save nearly £1,000 a year on fuel bills. At the time, the annual payment from the RHI would have been in the region of £7,000, and considering the whole installation cost around £30,000, it was a case of how soon we could get it done.
Two weeks later we had a new wood pellet boiler installed and working. It heats the radiators quickly and is as easy to use as a traditional gas boiler. We converted the boiler room into a show area where customers can see it working. We now have cheaper fuel bills and are protecting the environment with a sustainable fuel source.
