The Energy Saving Trust has estimated savings of about £340 a year when changing from an old boiler to an A-rated boiler. But how does a new boiler save you money, and where are the savings made?

Save money every day with an energy-efficient boiler

A new boiler reduces your gas bill because it uses gas more efficiently, converting more of it to heat. Your money goes further towards heating your home and water. Boiler efficiency ratings explain how much gas is converted to energy:

  • A: 90% and above
  • B: 86 to 90%
  • C: 82 to 86%
  • D: 78 to 82%
  • E: 74 to 78%
  • F: 70 to 74%
  • G: below 70%

An A-rated boiler wastes less than 10% of the energy it uses. A G-rated boiler can waste more than 30% of the gas you have paid for, a loss of £30 for every £100 of energy bill.

Limit the cost of repairs

Older, less efficient systems tend to experience more breakdowns. A new boiler provides a dependable central heating setup with fewer reliability issues, particularly during winter. New units come with manufacturer warranties of up to 10 years. Pairing this with boiler cover protects against unexpected expenses, as plans typically include parts, labour and routine maintenance.

In conclusion

Savings come in two ways: daily reductions in gas costs through improved efficiency, and lifetime savings through a dependable system that needs fewer repairs.
